4 Days from Marrakech
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Dades Valley
We’ll kick off our expedition from your accommodation in Marrakesh, heading towards the captivating Dades Gorges. En route, we’ll traverse the splendid Tizi-n-Tishka in the High Atlas Mountains and pause at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, renowned for its appearance in iconic movies like Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and Alexander.
Following a delightful lunch, we’ll delve into the mesmerizing natural vistas and historical wonders of Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate. Our itinerary also includes a visit to the Valley of the Roses, famous for its annual Festival of Roses. Continuing onward, we’ll journey through the charming Berber villages of El Kelaa des M’Gouna and Boumalene du Dades, where we’ll spend the night.
Day 2: Dades Valley – Merzouga via Todra Gorge
Our route from Boumalene Dades to Merzouga will treat us to some of Morocco’s most breathtaking landscapes. We’ll pass through the quaint Berber village of Tinghir and the awe-inspiring Todra Gorge, offering opportunities to soak in the stunning scenery and immerse ourselves in local culture and traditions. Along the way, we’ll encounter several other picturesque Berber villages, each with its own unique charm.
For lunch, we’ll halt at either Tinjdad or Rissani, where you’ll have the chance to savor the local specialty, Berber Pizza, a delicious dish topped with a variety of fresh ingredients.
After a flavorsome meal, we’ll proceed to Merzouga to embark on a camel trek. Following a brief preparation, we’ll enjoy a one-hour camel ride through the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes, the tallest in North Africa.
Upon reaching the Berber camp, you’ll receive a warm welcome from the hospitable locals. The camp offers comfortable Berber tents furnished with mattresses and linens for a peaceful night’s rest under the desert sky. Facilities include a restaurant serving delectable dinners, a kitchen for meal preparation, and even a toilet for added comfort. As dusk falls, you’ll be treated to a mesmerizing display of stars accompanied by a captivating performance by Berber drummers around the campfire.
Day 3: Merzouga – Ouarzazate
You’ll rise before dawn for an unforgettable adventure, capturing breathtaking photographs amidst the majestic dunes. Upon returning to the camp, you can freshen up with a shower and enjoy a delicious breakfast before continuing your journey.
Next, we’ll head to Ouarzazate, renowned for its ancient architecture, Kasbahs, and film industry. En route, we’ll pass through charming towns like Alnif, Tazzarine, Nkob, and the Draa Valley.
Upon arrival in Ouarzazate, you’ll check into a hotel/riad for a comfortable stay. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the city and its attractions, including the famous Taourirt Kasbah, the Atlas Film Studios, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou.
Day 4: Ouarzazate – Marrakech
After breakfast, we’ll embark on our journey back to Marrakech, traversing the awe-inspiring High Atlas mountains. Along the way, we’ll be treated to spectacular scenery, from snow-capped peaks to traditional Berber villages nestled in deep valleys. Upon reaching Marrakech, we’ll drop you off at your riad or hotel, concluding our memorable adventure.
